project description:

For my studio III class we were given the task to create a restaurant that served 100 customers and also included a bar. In this studio we learned revit as we created the project. This was my 1st project using Revit Software. We were already given the location, exterior shell and sq/ft of the building. Located in downtown Des Moinse, Iowa this 12,436 sq/ft building will be turned into a gourmet style restaurant serving the locals of Des Moinse. Downtown has a new and modern flare to it, with college students and displays of art all around for people to see. The area also serves many travelers as the airport is very close and there are multiple spaces for conventions. The restaurant's goal is to bring in revenue to our client and provide a gourmet restaurant for the locals and travelers to enjoy.

materials:
The concept of this design was to bring nature and the outdoors to life inside. The town Des Moines is known for the modern abstract art and sculptures. It is also known for many travelers and visitors. We wanted to provide a unique experience to the visitors by creating our version of abstract nature. The restaurant is also named after the local fish of Des Moines, the Perch.
Throughout the project you will find a mix of natural wood, cool blues and green color color tones and the contrasting color orange or copper finishes.

floorplan:

custom built-in banquette seating

This project required us to create a custom piece in Revit. We decided to create a banquette seat that held eight on each side of the tables. The custom abstract piece is covered in natural mossy wood occupied by green cloth booths, a glass table and rattan side chairs. The glass table is gourmet and complements the small glass pieces in between the abstract wood.
Using Revit, I turned an idea to a 3d render

bar design
For the bar I wanted to keep it simple. This design had a limited amount of space and a lot of pieces to fit. Keeping its "L" shape I placed it near the entrance for overflow and for customers to have easy access to. The chairs I chose are commercial but have a comfortable and relaxing look to make customers feel at ease and to stay longer. The decorative wall has our natural mossy wood and uplighting from the floor to catch customers attention when they walk in thhe front. The hardware and finishes are all copper.
